Executive Board Member | Active Minds | December 2014-June 2016

  • Aided the Officer team to come up with successful events that promote positive mental health strategies and reduce stigma while raising awareness

  • Helped to orchestrate the suicide awareness campaign “End the Silence”, gathered 1100 signatures from the community to represent 1100 college students who lose their lives to suicide each year

  • Currently a part of a program designed to educate 9th-grade students about mental health at Holmes Junior High in Davis, CA

  • Give presentations about mental illness, coping strategies, and encouraged students to help each other maintain positive mental heath

  • Help to organize lectures and student speakers as well as coordinate with UC Davis student volunteers

  • Gathering data regarding the effectiveness of the program in order to write a paper about our findings

 

Crisis Line Volunteer | Suicide Prevention | May 2016-August 2017

  • Went through an extensive training to work with hotline clients who are experiencing a variety of situations

  • Create detailed call reports, work with staff to secure caller’s safety, help callers find resources in their area and provide them with someone to listen to them during a crisis

  • Trained to de-escalate client’s when in crisis and to assist staff to call authorities if necessary 

Research Assistant | Developmental Research Center (Goodman Lab) | June 2015 – June 2016

  • Worked with children ages 8-12 (some diagnosed with ADHD/Learning disabilities)

  • Administered questionnaires and intelligence scales and observed parent-child interactions in a lab setting

  • Implements consistent evidence-based mental health services and Applied Behavioral Analysis programs to clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other co-morbid developmental disabilities in response to the recommendations of the Program Supervisor/Coordinator and Clinical Director in the home, school and/or other natural settings
